About Small bites with wine
The Back Story . . .
I'm all about whipping up delicious bites that perfectly complement the latest and greatest wines, with the intent of making every get-together with friends and family, an unforgettable experience.
Rather than sticking to the traditional recipe "rules," I approach entertaining with a scientific flair, much like conducting experiments in the lab. With my background as a science teacher, I've been known to treat my family and friends as willing guinea pigs, testing out new recipes and ideas to see what works best. I can happily say that I've had many more successes than failures, and I have learned some valuable tips and tricks along the way.
This website is my way of sharing this ongoing adventure—a blend of my love for cooking, passion for entertaining, and all the lessons learned. Plus, it's a platform to support a cause close to my heart, and also showcase the fantastic wines from a family-run vineyard.
My Mission
I want to provide information about yummy wines (yes... that's the technical term - one semester of enology back in 1997 at Fresno State did wonders) and helpful tips in pairing the perfect wine with the perfect bite.
I'm certainly no expert - but this seems like the perfect venue to both support a cause I believe in, and a wine I love.
Who am I?
One crazy chemistry teacher who has a passion for food and wine, with the incredible support of my ski obsessed, & military helmet-collecting husband of 28 years, and the unauthorized testing of recipes on unpaid guinea pigs: my kids, grandkids, friends, and family, who always seem to be open to my ideas, no matter how outlandish they may seem!

Throughout my 24-year journey as an educator, with a specialization in science and math, particularly chemistry, I've also assumed the responsibility of overseeing my school's science fair program for the past 16 years.
I've dedicated myself to nurturing a passion for scientific exploration among students in my classroom, and I've been very fortunate to oversee many students delve into our local and county-level science fair competitions, Win, and move on to impressive Global competitions, like ISEF (The International Science & Engineering Fair).
Science Fairs provide a platform for students to take their ideas, test them, and find solutions! This process produces individuals who have the capacity to make huge changes in our world - for the better!
